According to him, the constitution of the Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO) is not good enough for such a body.
Mr Dickson who happens to be part of UNICOM- GHAMRO members on the Professor Esi Sutherland Addy’s Committee said that there was the need to review the constitution because it was seen as not credible.
“We all accepted that there should be a constitutional review because the one GHAMRO is using now is bogus. We are therefore going to do thorough amendment to choose what would be more helpful for the governing body”. He claimed
“It would be with consensus from all stakeholders”. He added
The Attorney General set up a committee (Ghana Forum Committee to mediate a stalemate between the Board of GHAMRO and UNICOM- GHAMRO.
The committee was set when the new GHAMRO board paid a courtesy call on the Attorney General’s Office after elections to formally introduce board members to Hon. Minister, Gloria Akuffo.
During the meeting, the Attorney General (A.G), proposed to refer all agitations concerning GHAMRO to the Ghana Cultural Forum (G.C.F) for mediation.
After (5) sittings with both parties, the Ghana Cultural Forum Committee finished its report and came out with four major resolutions which are:
1. A thorough audit of GHAMRO accounts from 2012-2016.
2. An audit of accounts from January 2017 to June 2017 to ascertain the financial position of GHAMRO.
3. A constitutional review committee should be set to review the 2012 & 2016 constitution.
4. The (G.C.F) report also directed that a committee be constituted to set in motion plans to identify and procure services of a consultant to help the management of GHAMRO in the ongoing re –structuring exercise.
Mr. George believes that with the new constitution review committee, all stakeholders can come by a well drawn constitution for GHAMRO.
