Jordin Sparks Loses 16-Year Old Sister To Sickle Cell

American singer and songwriter, Jordin Brianna Sparks has lost her step-sister.

The multiple-award winning pop star’s step-sister Bryanna Jackson, 16, finally gave up her lifelong battle with Sickle Cell Anemia on Tuesday evening following complications. The sickle cell condition causes red blood cells to stick to vessel walls, blocking blood flow and preventing oxygen from reaching tissues which in turn leads to lack of oxygen, causing severe damage and pain to organs.

Bry went peacefully to Heaven,” I can’t help to think [that] she’s smiling just like this. Thank you all for your prayers.” Sparks’s mom, Jodi Jackson, wrote on Facebook Wednesday alongside a photo of her late step-daughter. “

The sad news comes just few months after Jordin, 28, revealed in November last year that she was secretly married to her model boyfriend, Dana Isaiah and expecting their first child.

The family of Bryanna has however directed that gifts and donations be sent to El Paso Children’s Hospital in Texas.
