Arguably one of Ghana’s biggest outdoor entertainment events christened the ‘S’ Concert was held on Friday, November 1 at the Accra sports stadium with maximum capacity audience.
This year’s edition of the annual ritual, the Neon Edition was organised to host 50 mainstream and upcoming artistes but unfortunately, some highly rated artistes could not perform on the glowing night.
Ace Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Samini who was also one of the headlined acts on the night could not perform even though he was waiting patiently backstage.
In a video posted shortly after the event on his Facebook page, Samini explained that the organizers failed to go by the time given him.He disclosed that the event organizers gave him 1:30 AM but he was backstage for almost four hours after the stipulated time without any explanation from them.
“I don’t normally complain like this but guess what, this is getting out of hand. I’m sorry to the fans who came out to the stadium to see me but I’m not doing the show and I’ve left the stadium. we have to stick to time, we have to make sure organizers communicate right with the artiste. you don’t keep me backstage almost four hours and have me wait for people to take turns on stage while I still sit backstage without knowing what to do.
So basically, my call time was 1:30 and I stayed backstage till 4 o’clock and I had to leave” Samini lamented.
Sources indicate that Samini per the program schedule was supposed to perform before Shatta Wale but unfortunately the Shatta Movement boss came on stage before him and spent about one and half hours performing on stage. This in turn pushed the other performers into the early mornings when basically all the patrons had left the stadium, leaving the place virtually empty and making it impossible for the other acts to perform.
